This flan reminds me of my mother’s desserts like no other. It is a Sunday family tradition at my parent’s house, and the love for this dessert has passed on from one generation to the next. It is always a hit because everyone just loves it.
This dessert takes no time to make, using everyday pantry ingredients. You can make it ahead and either keep it in the fridge or freeze it (it defrosts really well), and it is a real lifesaver. All you need to do is defrost it and invert it on a serving plate.
Once you learn how to make it, you will surely do so time and time again. Truth is, there is no other dessert as easy and delicious as this flan!

Dulce de Leche Flan
Ingredientes
- 5 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 400 grs dulce de leche
- Caramel for the pan
Instrucciones
- Coat a tube pan with hot caramel. You can go to the video in my previous post where I show you all the steps of the caramel making process.
- Place all the ingredients in a bowl and whisk to combine.
- Pour into the pan.
- Set the pan in a water bath and bake in a preheated oven at 150°C/300°F for 50-60 minutes.Shake the pan a little to check for doneness. If it is too wobbly, it needs some more time in the oven. Check it every 5-10 minutes so it does not overcook. If it jiggles a little, like jello, it is done.Let it cool completely in the water bath, chill for at least an hour, and then invert it onto a serving plate.
Notas
- Once cold, you can freeze it in the same baking pan. To defrost, remove from the freezer a few hours in advance, and then invert it on a serving plate.
