Apple Crumble

This is one of the easiest and quickest desserts to make. There is no need to even peel the apples since they provide both color and texture. In my opinion, this is the best apple dessert ever, especially when served with ice cream!!

Apple Crumble


For the apples:

  • 4 unpeeled apples
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

For the crumble:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar (or white sugar)
  • 1 pinch de salt
  • 110 grs cold unsalted butter, cut into bits
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or almonds (optional) (opcional)


  • Preheat oven at 190°C/370°F. Grease a baking dish.
  • Cut up the apples in thin slices and place them in a bowl. Add the sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice and cinnamon. Toss to combine and spread the mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  • In another bowl mix the flour, baking powder, sugar, salt and almonds (optional). Rub in the butter until the mixture is crumbly and spread it over the apples. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
