Preheat oven to at 180°C/350°F. Grease and flour a baking sheet.
In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder and salt, and mix to combine. Rub in the butter until crumbly. Add the sugar and mix.
Make a well in the center and add in the egg and the milk little by little, pressing to form the dough. Careful! Do not knead.
Turn onto a floured surface, press down a little with your hands or rolling pin to about 3/4 -inch thickness. Cut into rounds (or any other shape) with a cookie cutter or knife. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
